In Sakura Fox Adventure, players follow the journey of Mikoto, a young and hopeful foxgirl from the mystical village of Yamatai, a secluded settlement deep in the forest. At 25 years old, she has only one tail and struggles with both magic and combat. Yearning for a different life, Mikoto dreams of escaping the harsh expectations of her village and experiencing the world beyond, especially the human settlement of Warren Village. One night, driven by her desire for freedom, she runs away to attend the harvest festival in Warren.
